ART lesson, 2nd September

In our lesson, we talked about how to improve our final pieces and also about the end of the ART period and by
that I mean our critical study- Basically a summary of our main unit, in our case "Still Life"; We have to show some techniques and compare 4 artists, 2 pictures each. Mrs Barker explained how the critical study works, what we should include and mainly how to get a high mark on it. She also told us some techniques and also we started painting our drawings. Mine isn't what you can call beautiful, but i'll get there. The summary of the lesson is that, we discussed andput our hands "na massa"!

ART HW #1

- Still life with a daisy and anemones, Van Gogh

- Still life with apples, Paul Cezanne

Analisation:

-The colours show the main difference between the paintings. Both use bright colours but they use different technique. In Van Gogh's, the background seems as if it is dotted; in Cezanne’s, the background varies a lot, by using fabric in the background. In the paintings we saw in class, about what the objects meant, and, the flowers in Van Gogh’s painting could mean sign of happiness and wealth. In Cezanne’s, the fabric may mean luxury and the many oranges could mean sign of wealth (?) because of the amount. In my opinion, the effect that Van Gogh’s painting brought to me, was that, there was some come kind of happiness in the air. Cezanne’s painting brought a sadish/ questioning feeling because the colours got me a bit confused; as if I were in a happy but at the same time agonising place.
